Limoncello is a traditional Italian liqueur, born at the end of the nineteenth century.
It is produced from an infusion of lemon peels in alcohol and grappa. The lemons used must be characterized by a fine-grained peel and high quality essential oils. They must be grown naturally and without treatments, harvested at the maximum level of ripeness, washed and peeled by hand, eliminating the white (bitter) part and selecting only the yellow part, rich in essential oils. The lemon peels thus obtained are placed in alcoholic infusion for approximately 30 days. After a slow extraction process of the aromatic and coloring substances, the liquid is separated from the skins. Finally, sugar and grappa are added to make this Limoncello unique and unmistakable.
Limoncello has a lemon yellow color, with an intense aroma of ripe lemons and alcohol. On the palate it is sweet, full, juicy with slight hints of citrus fruits.
Perfect as an ingredient for aperitifs, excellent to drink very cold after a meal, it also pairs very well with ice cream, sorbets and fresh fruit salads.
Serve at very low temperature (-5° C) in small long-stemmed spirit glasses.
